Castle of Voltrera
The Castle of Voltrera d'Abrera belonged to the barony of Castellví de Rosanes. The town of Voltrera has been mentioned since 996, but the castle is not documented until 1027. At that time it was owned by Mr. Ramon Guillem de Voltrera, who owned it as a fief of his brother, the lord of Castellví.
The ensemble formed by the Castle of Voltrera d'Abrera and the chapel of Sant Pere are located in the Aberri district of Can Vilalba. It can be reached via a small stretch of unpaved road from Madrid Street.
On the other hand, the architectural remains are on a platform on the hill of the Castle 218 meters high located in the Serra d’en Ribes, considered a privileged viewpoint over the valleys of the rivers Llobregat and Anoia.
From Voltrera Castle we have direct visual communication with Castellví de Rosanes Castle and Esparreguera Castle, both on the other side of the river.
