Renaissance Museum

Share:

The Renaissance is a fundamental period in the history of humanity, marked by great discoveries and scientific advancements, as well as notable figures in art and culture. During this century, the town of Molins de Rei played a significant role thanks to the Requesens family and their close relationship with monarchs Charles V and Philip II.

Today, Molins de Rei has restored the Requesens Palace (a historic building declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest) to house the Museum of the Renaissance, the first monographic museum in Catalonia dedicated to explaining the history, culture, and society of this era through a selection of around one hundred works of art and objects from the 15th and 16th centuries.

The museum displays pieces from the municipal collection, as well as other works on loan from museum institutions such as the National Art Museum of Catalonia, the History Museum of Barcelona, the Frederic Marès Museum, the Barcelona Design Museum, the Diocesan and Regional Museum of Lleida, the University of Barcelona, the Documentation Centre and Textile Museum of Terrassa, and the Prado National Museum.
