Corbera de Llobregat
The millenary town of Corbera, located in a prime spot surrounded by Aleppo pine forests, still conserves elements of its Medieval origins: the 16th century Casal de Santa Magdalena –also known as the Castle -, the old Hospital de Pelegrins (also 16th century), Santa Maria church (13th century) and the ruins of the old Castell de Cavallers (10th century), among other buildings.
During the medieval era, Llobregat marked the border of Old Catalonia; this explains much of the heritage constructed for defensive purposes, including towers, castles and connecting roads.
The historic centre of Corbera de Llobregat maintains the appearance of that period, giving a glimpse into life more than 500 years ago in a feudal town. The street layout of the old quarter exudes great charm and is home to unique buildings like the Church of Santa Maria, the ruins of the medieval castle and the Casal de Santa Magdalena.
Important meetings are the Living Nativity Scene (December and January), the winter town celebration (17 January), the Sant Ponç meeting (the second Sunday in May), the summer town celebration (22 July) and the Bandit Fair (first weekend in October)
