Abrera

Despite the urban and demographic transformations experienced by the town over the last years, Abrera still conserves the essence of a village. Even though it has gone from being a mostly rural society to being an urban and industrial one, the town has preserved its signs of local identity. Abrera has one of the most important Romanesque architecture gems of the Baix Llobregat region and Catalonia, the church of Sant Pere (10th-11th century); Sant Hilari Hermitage is also Romanesque, and is a protected cultural heritage site. The town has other attractions such as the old centre and the natural landscapes along the river.

Today, Abrera also gives emphasis on researching and providing information about the different archaeological sites such as the Castell de Voltrera, the Roman villa of Sant Hilari or the Trinxeres of the Civil War of Sant Miquel, being aware of the importance of knowledge of the past and being able to raise awareness and maintain the identity of Abrera, both on a cultural, historical and tradition level.
